Services & Fees

How can you get started?  At this point, you have taken a big step to investigate your options. Choosing a psychologist is a very important, and largely personal, decision. You are the only one who can choose who is right for you. To help you make this choice, we have a process for getting to know us before you schedule your first appointment.  

First, to help us learn what your needs are, and to help us assess if any of our psychologists are a likely good fit for you, please visit Contact & Inquiries and submit a form inquiring about becoming a new client. We will contact you within two business days to share if we believe one of us is a likely good match or to suggest alternative referrals elsewhere. If we believe one of us can help you, we will suggest a brief complementary phone consultation between you and the psychologist to provide you with an opportunity to get a “feel” for what it might be like to work together in therapy. If, during that consultation, you and the psychologist determine it is a good fit, you can schedule an intake assessment. All psychologists do their own scheduling directly with their clients. We find this streamlines the scheduling process for our clients. An intake assessment appointment is typically about 55 minutes long and the purpose of the intake assessment is for you to tell your psychologist more about what is bothering you, your background, and your treatment goals. Your psychologist may also ask you to complete some symptom measures. Sometimes this process takes more than one session.

After the intake assessment, or during it, you and your psychologist will discuss a plan for your therapy sessions. Therapy sessions may occur on a weekly, more than weekly, bi-weekly, or other basis, depending on your needs and schedule. Therapy sessions are about 55 minutes long. Research suggests that clients who practice new skills learned in CBT have better therapy outcomes than those who do not. To maximize your therapy outcomes, we will work together to plan “homework” to facilitate this practice. Also, we frequently employ symptom measures to check on how your symptoms are improving. Sometimes, a psychologist will determine, during the intake assessment or later therapy sessions, that you would be better served with a different type of treatment. If that is the case, the psychologist will explain this to you and provide referral options for you to pursue. 

How do fees and payments work? We are out-of-network providers. This means you must make payment at the time of session. All major credit cards are accepted. Some clients choose to pay with health savings accounts card, which we also accept. You may choose to file for out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance company. The insurance company may pay for services or a percentage of services. We will cooperate with the insurance company in this process by writing any clinical reports they require but you will be responsible for finding out what is required. You may choose to engage a service like Reimbursify to handle the administrative hassle of filing for out-of-network benefits on your behalf; we are not endorsing them, only providing information about the service.

You may choose not to use insurance and instead pay for services “out of pocket”. Clients who do this have an additional level of confidentiality and control over their own treatment because treatment decisions are fully made between the psychologist and the client without input from an insurance company. Clients who overcome their problems by participating in evidence-based treatment with out-of-network providers often believe these benefits are well-worth their investment of time, money, and effort.

We are not Medicare or Medicaid providers. This means clients with Medicare or Medicaid insurance would be expected to pay full payments at the time of sessions.

Fees for Sessions:

60-Minute Intake Session: $350

53-Minute Individual Therapy Session or Parent Training Session: $252-$260

All other charges will be pro-rated according to session length and agreement. Fees for training offered in group settings will be separately discussed and agreed upon.

As a completely out of network practice, we are transparent with our fees so our patients know and can plan for the cost of services. You may know that many people have been harmed by surprise medical bills, often incurred during emergency or surgical care where there may be out of network providers involved in a patient’s care without their knowledge. The Federal No Surprises Act went into effect on January 1, 2022 to protect patients from surprise medical bills. As a result, all licensed health providers who offer out of network services are required to post a notice of “your rights and protections against surprise medical bills” on our websites or in our physical offices. Again, the nature of mental health services are different and we do not engage in surprise or balance billing. Further, in accordance with the Act, we will gladly provide a Good Faith Estimate of the costs of services prior to a first session and in the course of treatment

Prior to your intake appointment, you will be sent an invitation to our secure portal. You will be asked to download, print, complete, and upload intake forms at least 24 hours prior to your intake appointment.
