Welcome
If you are looking for private, specialized, and personalized therapy with a down-to-earth yet experienced and highly trained psychologist, you are in the right place. We are a collection of psychologists who work with adults in 35 states via telehealth through a private practice based in Atlanta. We also provide therapy in our office in Inman Park, Atlanta, GA.
The type of therapy we provide is based on well-established and effective cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) infused with mindfulness training as well as skills borrowed from dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), interpersonal therapy (IPT). We have a warm collaborative guiding style and love to help adults with:
- ANXIETY
- OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER (OCD)
- INSOMNIA
- TRAUMA AND POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER
- DEPRESSION
We also have the experience and understanding needed to help clients with other challenges in life like grief and loss; drinking/drug use; binge eating; chronic pain; managing or adjusting to injury or chronic medical or health issues; relationship difficulties; parenting; racial stress and anti-racism; and career or school concerns. We especially enjoy working with creative types, executives, professionals, and students. All of us are LGBTQ+ affirming and we strive to provide culturally-affirming and responsive care for our clients. In addition to therapy offered on an individual basis, we offer SPACE parent training for parents wishing to gain skills necessary to guide children with anxiety.
CBT is referred to as “evidence-based” because researchers find it to be effective for many people.
CBT is usually short term and can often work in 6-25 sessions; some clients come back for “booster sessions” every once in a while after they complete a course of therapy. Some of clients stay in therapy for longer amounts of time, especially if they have a particularly severe and “sticky” symptoms and or if they get relief from their primary concerns but then find other issues they wish to work on.
Researchers continue to refine CBT. All of our psychologists stay up-to-date on new treatment developments so you can get treatment that works.
While specific CBT techniques and strategies are often necessary components of an effective therapy experience, the relationship between the psychologist and client is equally essential. When selecting a psychologist, you want both– tools and a good relationship. This is what we seek to provide. We do not apply a one-size-fits-all CBT approach. Rather, we collaborate with clients to determine the most efficient and effective ways to engage them in the process of reflection and change, all the while fostering a sense of emotional safety infused with challenge needed to grow. In other words, we appreciate the creation of a strong therapeutic relationship and work to enable clients to set goals, build insight and mindful awareness, and step into a space of vulnerability where they often delight in the process of testing and stretching their limits, emotionally, cognitively, and behaviorally. Also, we are different from other practices because we keep our caseloads small so we can provide time for you to do therapy when your schedule allows and when the need arises.
